Prerequisites
This course is open to any third year student. It is required for students who are part of the Health Equity Scholars Program or who are pursing the Distinction in Health Equity
Specific Clerkship Prerequisites:
Visiting Students
No LCME students accepted.
No osteopathic students accepted.
Course Description
This course is a third-year requirement for students who are Health Equity Scholars or working toward the Distinction in Health Equity. Students will be introduced to basic principles of public health and discuss how healthcare policy is changed at the legislative level. Students will also learn key skills for health advocacy, including giving an elevator pitch, writing an op-ed, and facilitating small group discussion.
