No LCME students accepted.
No osteopathic students accepted.
Course Description
Four (4) week placement in one or more international clinical healthcare settings. The course provides medical students with Global Service Learning opportunities in developing countries and underserved areas throughout the world. Learning activities may include an understanding about the social, economic, environmental, historical and political determinants of health, with a goal of health equity for all. Must receive approval from UAB School of Medicine Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and Course Director prior to training start date for academic credit to be awarded for this elective.

Approved Study Abroad site.
Requirements
Four (4) weeks of cross-cultural training experience at an approved site. Within one (1) month of return home, the following are due: Report of Experience, Site Evaluation, Preceptor Evaluation, and other site-specific documentation agreed upon prior to student's enrollment.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail based on meeting elective requirements.
