Course Description
This course provides an opportunity for the student to be exposed to the various many aspects of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. A customized schedule will be created for each student in consultation with the student at the start of the rotation. The available rotations include outpatient clinic, cardiology inpatient service, cardiac critical care service, echocardiography, interventional cardiology, exercise testing, electrophysiology, electrocardiography interpretation. The student's involvement in the care of the patient will vary on the particular rotation (e.g. CVICU/CCU could be given a panel of patients to participate in the management and treatment vs. interventional catheterization lab where it will be observation). Call is not required. This course is recommended for the student who is interested in pediatrics and in particular pediatric cardiology. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physician's interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
