Course Description
This course provides a historical context to the practice of modern medicine. Teaching sessions will offer students the opportunity to apply concepts of current medical practice to a historical perspective through: a survey of key historical figures the progression of disease management across sub-specialties the impact disease had on developing public and private health care facilities the establishment of the public health system LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to: Describe the development of medical specialties in a historical context Analyze the evolution of medicine from an art to a science Appreciate their pursuit of a career in medicine within a historical framework ******************************************************************************************************************************************* Co-enrolled elective courses offer 2 weeks elective credit each; a student may only receive a maximum of 4 weeks elective credit from co-enrolled courses. STUDENTS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO BE ENROLLED IN ONE CO-ENROLLED COURSE AT A TIME.
