Course Description The purpose of this course is to provide exposure to the wide range of experiences that encompass orthopaedic sports medicine. The student will spend time in the clinic and assisting in surgery. The student may also be asked to participate in physical exams, training room evaluations and sideline coverage of athletic events, depending on the timing of rotation. During the rotation, students may also spend time in the clinic of a local physical therapist specializing in athlete rehabilitation. Student Learning Objective: Exposure and knowledge with ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, meniscal procedures, total shoulder repair to name a few.

Requirements Student will follow a surgeon through clinic, surgeries, hospital rounds, rehab centers and other areas as necessary. The student will be expected to follow the surgeon everyday Monday-Friday; times will vary depending on schedule. It is expected that the student will spend 6-8 hours each day with the surgeon and staff.
