Course Description Student will work along-side/shadow residents and attendings at St. Vincent's East Family Medicine Residency Program in Birmingham, AL, a community-based residency program. The student will participate in clinic, rounds, and conferences as available in order to gain exposure to the comprehensive nature of family medicine and continuity of care for patients. Learning Objective: 1) Develop an understanding of systems based practice of a community hospital based family medicine residency program; 2) demonstrate advanced skill in history and physical skills, interpersonal communication skills and professionalism; 3) understand the comprehensive nature of an inpatient and outpatient community family medicine residency program.

Requirements 1) Participate in clinic, rounds, and conference with residents and attendings; 2) at least one day of weekday call; 3) evaluation and presentation of patients and informal teaching discussions; 4) written report of daily activities and what was learned.
Evaluation Pass/Fail; class participation/attendance. The pass/fail grade will be determined by written report of daily activities and what was learned. Attendings will also comment on the student's participation.
