No osteopathic students accepted.
Course Description Scholarly Activity consists of 8 consecutive weeks of work on a scholarly project under the mentorship of a faculty member at the Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery or Tuscaloosa campuses. The project will be designed by the student and mentor. Following completion of the project, the student will write and submit a paper/report upon this work.

Requirements Students will undertake a research project under the direction of a faculty mentor for 8 consecutive weeks. Upon project completion, the student will submit a report based on his/her project.
Evaluation Pass/Fail based on:
Final paper/report which will be reviewed by the mentor, an external reviewer, and oversight committee.
Notes STUDENTS DOING THEIR SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY PROJECT AT A LOCATION OTHER THAN BIRMINGHAM, HUNTSVILLE, MONTGOMERY OR TUSCALOOSA ARE NOT PERMITTED TO GO AWAY FROM CAMPUS UNTIL BLOCK I AND UNTIL A PASSING SCORE ON USMLE STEP I HAS BEEN RECORDED.
