Course Description This course will focus on the development of students as leaders in the context of medical education and student affairs. Topics of lectures and training will focus on leading small groups; understanding how personalities work; communication skills; and gaining an understand of the components of medical education (UME, MSS, Admissions/Enrollment Management) for the purposes of orienting incoming students. Learning Objectives: 1. Demonstrate effective communication skills to small and large groups. 2. Understand the challenges of leading small groups of peers and demonstrate ability to handle challenges. 3. Be able to articulate the services and resources available to new students. 4. Demonstrate an ability to plan and execute a variety of organizational tasks in a timely manner. 5. Understand the importance of and demonstrate a sensitivity toward inclusive language that makes all students feel comfortable.

Days 1-5: New Student Orientation Leadership Responsibilities
Evaluation Pass/Fail evaluation based on:
Participation in one week of New Student Orientation, and seven training modules.
