Course Description
This module offers a comprehensive examination of the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus. The course will cover the anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology relevant to the GI tract; these topics will form the basis for an integrative discussion of gut pathology, including inflammatory and infectious causes of GI and hepatic conditions. Topics will be covered within a clinical framework and will include coverage of the relevant diagnostic, nutritional and therapeutic aspects of GI-related disease. Emphasis will be placed on the correlation of normal with pathological states. The course will also cover GI conditions related to specific stages of the life cycle.
