Prerequisites

Course Description
The purpose of this course is to provide exposure and experience in sports medicine, including (1) primary care of acute athletic injuries, (2) exposure to surgical procedures and patient care commonly associated with sports medicine, (3) care of acute and chronic sports medicine problems in a clinical setting, and (4) examination techniques for sports medicine injuries, i.e., knee, shoulder, ankle exams.

Requirements
1. Recognition of common Sports Medicine injuries and their primary care of treatment
2.Recognition and treatment of clinical Sports Medicine problems
To provide the resident or student exposure and experience in Sports Medicine.
1. Primary care of acute athletic injuries
2. Exposure to surgical procedures and patient care commonly associated with Sports Medicine.
3. Care of acute and chronic Sports Medicine problems in a clinical setting.
4. Learn examination techniques for Sports Medicine injuries i.e., knee, shoulder, ankle exams
Evaluation
Evaluation Methods: Pass/Fail
Students will be evaluated on attendance, completion of assigned reading and participation in patient interactions and group discussions.
