Prerequisites Successful completion of the core internal medicine, psych and surgery clerkships and any clerkship which covers the content material of the requested elective or acting internship course (e.g. Pediatric Clerkship must be successfully completed prior to taking a Pediatric Elective or AI).

Course Description This General Psychiatry elective is offered in the 4th year. By the end of this rotation, the student will be able to obtain a thorough psychiatric history including psychosocial aspects and will be able to do a thorough mental status examination. The students should be able to make precise diagnosis and come up with appropriate treatment plan. The student will be given responsibility in treatment planning and follow-up. This will enable them to understand psychiatric treatments including psychopharmacology and psychosocial treatments.

Requirements Attendence at teaching rounds, morning reports and didactics. Student will be asked to do a 20-30 minutes seminar on topic of their chioce.
Evaluation Pass/Fail with written comments.
Notes This elective can be tailored to foucus on inpatients/consultation/Community Mental Health or Child Psychiatry.
