Prerequisites
Successful completion of the core internal medicine, family medicine and surgery clerkships and any clerkship which covers the content material of the requested elective or acting internship course (e.g. Pediatric Clerkship must be successfully completed prior to taking a Pediatric Elective or AI).

Course Description
This elective is primarily designed for the visiting student who wishes to become acquainted with a family practice residency program which is conducted within both a medical center and a community hospital setting. The student will be expected to participate with a resident in all aspects of a residency program, including hospital rounds on various services (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Practice, and OB/GYN), night call, outpatient clinics, nursing home visits, and conferences. If the third year Family Practice Student clerkship is also being offered during the student's visit, participation in the didactic sessions will be encouraged, but are optional. The student will work with various Family Practice residents and faculty. The student will participate in patient evaluation, management, and care planning as well as in conferences, seminars, skill labs, and various extracurricular residency activities such as community services, sports clinics, etc.

Requirements
Attendance at clinics, noon conferences and other as determined by the supervising faculty.
Evaluation
The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physician's interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
