Successful completion of the core internal medicine or family medicine clerkships.

Course Description
The student will be exposed to general out-patient internal medicine. The student will be prepared to diagnose and manage a wide variety of problems and illnesses in a general primary care private office setting. The student will work closely with the attending and emphasis will be placed on planning and handling ambulatory diagnostic work-ups.

Students will be e-mailed with information about where and when to report.
Requirements
The student will be expected to be in clinic during regular clinic hours - Monday through Friday in most instances and never on weekends. The student will not be on call. Patient load will be on an individual basis. Documentation may or may not be required depending on your preceptor. Required reading will be determined by the preceptor.
Evaluation
The student will be evaluated by the attending physician based on observations of the student's performance, thought process, and interest level. They will be judged on knowledge, attitude, ability, level of documentation, communication skills, level of progressions , attendance, and timeliness. The rotation is pass or fail. The preceptor should give verbal and/or written feedback to the student approximately half way through the course and the student should feel free to ask for feedback more frequently.
