Course Description This course is designed so the student will gain basic knowledge of common benign skin disorders in such areas as pathogenesis, recognition, and treatment. The student will observe and participate in initial evaluation of patients and treatment under the supervision of the dermatologist. The student will work in an active office practice, initially observing for a few days and then assuming increased responsibility. The student will initially see the patients and evaluate complaints and then discuss diagnosis and treatment plan with the dermatologist. Use of electrodesiccate and liquid N2 cryosurgery will be taught.

Requirements The student will be expected to be in clinic during regular clinic hours - Monday through Friday in most instances and never on weekends. The student will not be on call. Patient load will be on an individual basis. Documentation may or may not be required depending on your preceptor. Required reading will be determined by the preceptor.
Evaluation The student will be evaluated by the attending physician based upon the attending physician's observations of the student's performance, thought process and interest level. They will be judged on knowledge, attitutde, ability, level of documentation, communication skills, level of progressions, attendance, and timeliness. The rotation is pass or fail. They preceptor should give written or oral feedback to the student approximately halfway through the course and the student should feel free to ask for feedback more frequently.
