Course Description
The Clinical Radiology elective provides medical students an four-week introduction to the fundamentals of radiology, as well as exposure to the various modalities and procedures. Students will learn the role radiologic evaluation plays in patient care. The students rotate through the subspecialty areas including GI and GU, Chest, Musculoskeletal, Ultrasound, CT, Vascular and Interventional, Neuroradiology, and MRI. Experience with pediatric imaging is available.They will spend time with faculty, residents, and fellows discussing radiographic findings as well as the clinical work-up of various diseases. The majority of the learning is active, similar to other clinical rotations, and the students will be directly involved in patient care. There is also a lecture series approximately three days a week, for 1-2 hours each day, which provides viewbox teaching and interesting case discussions.

Requirements
Daily attendance on clinical services with viewbox teaching.
Attendance of required radiology educational conferences and selected clinical conferences.
Selected on-line readings from radiology education sites and optional textbook.
Preparation and electronic presentation of radiology case.
Completion of electronic radiology basics test.
Note: Only four weekday absences are allowed for any reason.
Evaluation
Student evaluation is based on daily performance and attendance, a basics film interpretation test, and electronic radiology case presentation.
Grading is pass/fail.
