Prerequisites
Successful completion of the core internal medicine and surgery clerkships and any clerkship which covers the content material of the requested elective or acting internship course (e.g. Pediatric Clerkship must be successfully completed prior to taking a Pediatric Elective or AI).

Course Description
During the Physician as Educator elective the student will participate in on-line didactic assignments designed to introduce them to educational theory, teaching methodologies, and assessment. In addition to successful completion of the on-line web based instructional modules, the elective participants will be required to develop an on-line teaching case suitable for medical students in training (undergraduates or Interns). This teaching case must be designed utilizing the educational methodologies learned in the didactic portion of the elective. An acceptable teaching case must include objectives, case presentation (including patient history, physical findings, laboratory data, imaging results (image files), and surgical biopsy, or autopsy results and images when applicable), and a minimum of 5 essay questions with answer key rubric, and 5 USMLE style multiple choice questions related to the case.

Requirements
Participate in a project related to Physicians as Educators as assigned.
Evaluation
Students will be expected to adhere to project guidelines and deadlines. Pass or fail grade will be assessed based upon student participation in the elective, completion of the project according to the project guidelines, and submission of the project by the prescribed deadline at the end of the elective.
