Course Description
In this elective the student participates in the morphologic and immunophenotypic analysis of diagnostic biopsies of bone marrow, lymph node as well as other tissues involved by hematopoietic neoplasms. The student is based in the Surgical Pathology / Bone marrow Lab (North Pavilion or SW281), and attends various teaching sessions / conferences available on the service including daily Hematopathology Sign out sessions. The student may also participate in the flow cytometric analysis of current diagnostic cases. Students are encouraged to participate in case reports and clinical research. Teaching material and recent literature on hematopathology are available for review.
