Biographical Sketch
My current research project is identifying Clinical and Genetic Predictors of Beta Blocker Therapy in Non-ischemic Heart Failure. My overarching hypothesis is that an integrated approach including genetic and clinical profile and their interactions will accurately predict response to beta-blocker therapy in non-ischemic HF, and that non-selective beta-blockers have a differential effect on LV and RV function in this patient population. Beyond the current project I have an interest in big data analytics and harnessing the power of “big data” to tailor the use of medicines in subgroups of heart failure patients (precision medicine). In addition to my role as a clinician, researcher and reviewer, I have been a mentor and teacher to several students over the past 10 years. Notably, I have provided didactic teaching to medical students over the last 5 years, supervised and trained MPH students from UT school of Public Health and supervised and trained residents both in clinical care and research. I have also given lectures on Where and How to Publish research at American Medical Association-MSS/RFS meetings and How to Conduct Research During Residency and/or Fellowship lecture to the graduating medical students.
